Chapter 16...The Village of Solum & The Negaves

Questmyre II: The Land of Mists & Mirrors
Chapter 16...The Village of Solum & The Negaves
............................................................................
With an evil smirk Kerri began to whisper into her ear. “He doesn’t car...
e about you. You’re just an exotic little thing, a toy he wants to play with and discard. There is nothing great about you, you are not royal and definitely not a princess. Robin you are just common trash. He will use you up then throw you away…” Kerri grew quiet for a moment then said the words which would seal the deal.

“You…are…nothing.”

The words echoed in Robin’s head. While Kerri spoke Robin’s life force had ebbed away from her. She lay now, pale and lifeless; barely breathing.

“Just enough left to make you suffer. Ha ha ha! Dag, I’m good. I mean…bad.” With a smile Kerri jumped out the window leaving it open to the cool night air...

In The End...

I've spent the last week trying to decide if I should work on one of my old books entitled "In The End". I wrote this in just 2 weeks front to back during Spring Break while in Grad School (yes...I know...I REALLY needed to 'get out more' ...
huh?) and it needs to be edited and extended a bit...however...I have this idea that if I ever made this book public...there is an 85% chance I'd be either stoned, canned, hung or led to a fiery stake......................so um....yeah....may be a few centuries before I let this one go....

Rowing Back Through Time...

Not sure where to begin with this one...  A friend of mine asked me to volunteer and help bring a large dock from one cove to the other.  This was really a weird and symbolic trip for me...before we even started a woman fell into the water while trying to get in her kayak and ignoring everyones attempts to help her...Looking at this group statue (below) representing the people thrown or who jumped overboard is so eery given what occured at the beginning of this kayaking journey...

Each way was about 1.5 miles but when we got to the other cove I found the "dock" was in two pieces that had to be connected and was absolutely HUGE.  The guys were great at getting it together and somehow magically no one got hurt when we threw this GIGANTIC thing into the water...but thats when the drama began.  I and 2 other guys did MOST if not ALL of the work while the other three stood on the floating dock.  I was already not feeling so great so this REALLY took some effort (serious AB workout btw ;)) to get this dock moving.

Halfway on the way back I started to think about my ancestors.  Granted like most Americans I am mixed so I’ll be specific and say the African “slaves” kidnapped and brought to North America.  Maybe it is the dramatic writer in me that made me empathize with their plight but once we finally got the dock to our final location one of the other guys who did the bulk of the work pulled me aside; he was out of breath and thirsty and brought it up on his own.  He said, “Can you imagine not having anything to drink, no food and being beaten and forced to row vessels even bigger than this for 3 or 6 months straight?  Only the strongest could survive that journey and the hell that awaited them in America…”  I truly could not imagine this…it seemed like a nightmare come to life…I will MOST definitely be giving a moment of silence for my ancestors…
To them I say “I am truly honored to be a part of you…”

An Alien...in a Strange World...

“I’m that human who wants only the best for everyone; whether I know them or not…I am a being who tries to give each person the benefit of the doubt…I try my best to uplift others and show them how great they can be…I’m that person who sees jealousy and greed for the evils they are and squelch any hint of them within myself…I respect everyone’s right to be different…I believe we ALL are ‘the chosen ones’…I don’t try to be perfect I just try my damndest to be decent…I am without a doubt…an alien…in a strange world…” -Hajee

The Village of Solum...don't stay for too long...

Questymyre II: The Land Of Mists & Mirrors
Chapter 16: The Village of Solum

Roami was so deep in thought he did not initially hear the singing but it grew loud enough to push past his anger and fears. The song came from a metal megaphone attached to one of the cottages which stood dark and shadowed along the desolate street.

As the day ended a sweet young girls voice wafted across the silent village. Roami quickly noted they were the same words from a verse he had skimmed over in the Book of Letti. The girl sang out, “Light the lanterns, lock the doors, hole up tight before they come. In night grow monsters we all fear, pray oh pray they won’t come near. Hole up tight before they come, but if out ‘fore the night is through, best believe you’ll join the doomed!”

Once the song died down his thoughts came back in full force to confront him. He tried to think of numerous possible solutions to save Robin’s life but regrettably ruled each one out. By the time he returned to the cabin, locked the front door and stood by Robin’s side, the only thing he could think to do was…cry.

Tree Fairies & Light Pots...

Questmyre II: Chapter 14 is the shortest chapter but no less magical...

The jars encased the tiny little things. They flew around within and stopped only to make faces at Roami and the others. A few even shook their fists in mock anger.
Robin knelt down on all fours to get a closer look at them. “They’re absolutely beautiful!” She said as she looked at their large green eyes, pert noses, short kinky hair which came in every shade of the rainbow and long artfully formed wings. Their skin was also in varying shades but all had a glimmering, sprinkle to them. As they were just babies, they were not so tall and their limbs were somewhat chubby like a cherubs’ would appear.

Before long the Tree Fairies forgot to be angry and began singing the sweetest songs ever sung. Their melodies were muted slightly by the pot covering them and now sounded like soft soothing lullabies. The light they gave off was a soft golden glow and had the effect of making the group very sleepy...

A Fearsome SFI from Questmyre II: Chapter 12

“Fight!” The SFI’s screamed in unison then bellowed their battle cries. Robin was a hundred percent sure the ground beneath them rumbled.

Free’s purple eyes grew large as saucers when his SFI...
stood to his full height. It was nearly double the size of the others with a massive muscled chest, gray skin, white eyes and a shock of blood red hair. To make it even more fearsome it had a jagged scar running across its cheek.

“I think I just wet myself.” Free stuttered as he staggered back a few steps...

It's virtually impossible to listen to this song and NOT want to kick some behind...I mean the beginning is fine but once you get to the instrumental part....you're sitting there tapping your feet and wondering why you're NOT karate kicking your friends or putting your loved ones in a secure headlock........wait......or is that just me????  :|

The Children...without voices...

When I was younger...I would sometimes cry myself to sleep while thinking about all the people without homes, food, the crippled, the weak and of course, the children at risk...  I was only a child myself but assumed that when I got older I could be this sort of wonder woman, a super being who could fly across the world and save them ALL.

Now of course...I realize that was just a fantasy...and still find myself at times...in bed...crying for all those people who have too little or are at the mercy of criminals, who don't have a voice or the strength to fight back...I hate this helpless feeling...knowing that at any moment of any second in the day...a child is being hurt or abused...absolutely kills me inside.  Unfortunately, procreation is NOT the result of combined "deep thought" or intellectual epiphanies...but something as base and widely practiced as sex.  Literally...any idiot can have a child.  And when said idiots have children...the drama begins...through improper rearing an entire life and possibly even generations can be destroyed...I guess the most anyone can do is HELP where they can...make sure ALL the children in your life are SAFE, HAPPY, HEALTHY...and by doing so... we CAN make this world a better place...It's really that SIMPLE and yet that seemingly out of reach...

The Village Crazies or GOD I LOVE NYC!

Right...

So I'm in the west village for less than 2 minutes...NO EXAGGERATION...waiting for a real estate client...when I'm asked for directions (as usual) by some dude who's looking me up and down so hard he nearly got hit by a car, asked to buy some other guys music cd or support his kids (I'm not sure because I had my headphones on) and then......sigh....here comes an old guy who looks like he may or may not be homeless but is most DEFINITELY out of his mind...walking down the street with mardi gras beads around his neck and talking to himself.  With my long and frightfully colorful experience with 'the crazies' of NYC, I automatically tense up and focus on getting directions on my phone...low and behold he moves in my direction and says loudly "Oh...and By the Way...I HAVE a sexuality B!tch!" then rolls his eyes and SAUNTERS (yes saunters) away into the dusk.........

GOD I LOVE NYC! (tongue painfully poking into my cheek)

"A Bicyclists Wonderland..." or "A ride to Remember" I'm a Gemini so its hard to choose ;)

My legs were tight from my half-marathon yesterday but I rushed to get to Central Park today at 8am (nearly missed the group by a millisecond but got in right before shut out). I had signed up as a volunteer bicyclists for the Achilles Tandem Ride (for more info about the org click here). My job was to lead a blind or visually impaired individual on a Tandem bike. At first it should have been solely in Central Park but we ended up taking the streets since today was NYCs "Summer Streets". Basically a Haven for Bicyclists, RollerBladers and Runners to run and frolic down Park avenue from the top to the bottom of Manhattan. I was nervous about having another life in my hand but practiced on the Tandem before "show time" and after just one cut on my leg, quickly got the hang of it. Met up with my passenger or partner, depends on how you look at it, and enjoyed an absolutely memorable day in the city. Tons of bicycles going down Park Avenue which is usually overrun with yellow taxis, trucks, cars and rushed businessmen. At one point a man on a bike with an automatic bubble blower flew by us. I stopped him at a stop sign and took a picture of course.
I heard from my passenger aka bike partner today that this nonprofit also does RUNNING with the blind. How cool! I may try that at least once.
On a more serious note... She mentioned during our ride how she does not like to place limits on herself and hates when other people try to do that in the name of safety... not more than a few minutes after that we stopped at a tent along Park Avenue where they were giving out Free Bike Helmets (which I seriously needed) we were too late to get one but as we mounted back on the Tandem a guy from a nearby display came to us and asked if we wanted to learn more about Truck "Blind spots" and how dangerous it was for us to ride on a Tandem bike. I stopped him and explained that she was Blind and this was the ONLY way she could bike, he apologized and said he did not realize...we said "no problem" and continued on our merry way...its amazing the experiences you can have...the insight into others lives you can get when you connect with people...I do all these sports everyday and only once in a while think about those who cannot do this all by themselves...this was really ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES of my life...being able to help someone else experience the joys of sports and fitness...who would otherwise be unable to... I hope to do this again and again....
I pushed through despite my tight legs and ended up biking 30 miles of biking. Crazy day and I am finally home resting.... Some might think I'm "nonstop" or "overdo" it...but in the end...The GREAT memories are well worth the fatigue...totally priceless...
